THEME VERSE

“Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back.” Luke 6:30 (NKJV)

For those who have been with us for a while now, must have noticed our emphasis on practicing the Word in our everyday lives. What does practicing the Word mean?

Who is a WORD Practitioner?

Practicing the Word is NOT fulfilling or even following the 10 Commandments. Neither is it practicing your church doctrines and traditions. It is none of these and I repeat NONE OF THESE! Being a Word Practitioner results from the love you profess about Jesus Christ. He says,

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” John 14:15 (NKJV).

The word keep in the verse is from the Greek verb tēreō which means to fulfill a command. We fulfill a command by doing or practicing the command.

Commandments Again!

How do we come about commandments again after I previously said the 10 Commandments do not apply to us as sons of God? The Old Testament (OT) has 613 laws, of which 611 are from Moses and 2 laws from God which we commonly referred to as the 10 Commandments (laws towards God and Laws towards man Matthew 22:34-46)

Jesus Christ fulfilled all the law, and He gave us a new set of commandments such as our theme verse and a great commandment; “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” John 13:34

The commandments refer to that which is prescribed to one because of his office such as Moses in the OT with his 611 laws. However, Jesus Christ, who is greater than Moses, fulfilled all that Moses prescribed and prescribes even better commandments.

A Practical WORD Practitioner

In line with our theme verse, if anyone asks of you, give. As a businessperson, if anyone dupes you of your services or goods, let them be; don’t require it from them. Hmm… that’s why I titled this article “Tough Love” because to the natural and carnal Man, this is tough and foolishness; it makes no sense (1 Corinthians 2:14).

Any Penalties?

In the OT, judgment was the penalty for defaulters because those laws sought to make one righteous before God and by the way, the law made none perfect (Hebrews 7:19). However, in the NT, our righteousness is the righteousness of Jesus Christ and it’s a gift when we become born again (Romans 5:17).

The NT law (of Christ) is in place so we can walk in the new life (God-Life) till we become a mature man, to the measure of the statute of Jesus; expressing His character and wisdom. Defaulters of the NT laws of Christ will continue living human lives and continue to be victims of this world’s system and the devil.

The NT law is about expressing the wisdom and nature of God; It’s about Love, Influence, and Impact as we establish the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. We must grow to outgrow our churches by operating on the platform of the WORD.

Are you a “Tough” Lover? Are you a WORD Practitioner?

A PRAYER FROM ME WITH YOU

Thank you, Father, for Your Life and for Your Word. forgive me for my ignorance and for focalizing on church doctrines and traditions and not on the Holy Spirit and your Word. Lord, I pray that as I commit to studying your Word, let it find solace in my Spirit, transform my mind and find its perfect expression in my thoughts, words, and action. all for your glory and to further the Kingdom on earth.
