“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” Isaiah 9:2 (KJV)
Darkness and Light, two very common aspects in the world. Darkness and Light are very commonly used in scripture. Darkness is very often likened to evil or bad mystical occurrences. However, when paralleled with Light, darkness takes on a whole new meaning.
Light stands for wisdom and knowledge. Wisdom and knowledge are more often referred to as the light that illuminates the human mind, reason in human history, we had the Age of Enlightenment. A time when reason and knowledge (light) were more accentuated, and this has ever since impacted the course of human beings to date.
Darkness in stark contrast with light refers to ignorance. Ignorance of what then? Does ignorance mean a total lack of knowledge? It is of vital importance for us to comprehend the spirit of scripture. Scripture from Genesis to Revelation is about The Great Light, so ignorance in scripture is not about the total absence of light (wisdom and knowledge), but the ignorance or unfamiliarity of The Great Light.
Why all this talk about light (wisdom and knowledge)? Everything created and living functions based on knowledge. Conversely, knowledge powers everything that is living. Plants, animals, and humans function based on knowledge (Light) programmed by our Father; how they should function and operate. However, none of these functioned under the influence of The Great Light in the earth for none even Man the “ruler” of the earth, functioned by a lesser light (wisdom and knowledge) especially after the fall–they chose the lesser light guided by their knowledge and experiences..
After the manifestation and death of the Jesus Christ, Man was recreated and given the very nature of God; Man was created as a Life-Giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45 NKJV). The recreated Man is made greater than the former Man who lived by human wisdom and knowledge which is based on human experiences. The new Man being made better needed The Great Light (wisdom and knowledge from God) to function by.
John the Baptist in John 1:6-13 testifies of this Great Light. The Great Light is Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ is the Word (John 1:1-5). Going by the Mathematical Law of Transitivity (please don’t panic, it’s simple 😉) which states that when;
A = B = C then, A = C.
Therefore, going John 1:1-9,
The Word = Jesus Christ = The Light.
Implying,
The Word = The Light.
That Great Light is Jesus Christ. However, this does not mean Jesus Christ has light bulbs all over His body for Him to shine 😊. The Light referred to are His Words (Wisdom, understanding and knowledge): His Word is the light which ought to “light-up” everyman. The reason He died for all so everyone can function by that Light.
The Word of God is the totality of wisdom and knowledge. The Word of God is the wisdom and knowledge par excellence that we the sons of God must live by for the most productive and fulfilling life. Trapped in The Word of God is the mind of God; His dreams, visions, desires, and purposes.
The Word of God is the only source of wisdom and knowledge that sets us practically far above principalities, thrones, dominions, and powers. When you function by the Word of God, the kingdom of darkness can never comprehend you. Through The Word, you have everything that pertains to life and godliness; you become a mystery to the world. Go for The Word and make it your life’s purpose and it will make you become Himself. Never forget, The Word is a person.
Speak!
