THEME VERSE

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:10-11 (KJV)

What am to tell you might shock you but all the same it’s a truth we sons of God have to know. We are not involved in any battle with the devil, there is no battle whatsoever with the forces of darkness without or outside us. These ones have been defeated already by Jesus Christ and His victory is complete.

He has translated us far above principalities and powers and we are seated in the heavenly places – the devil and his minions are put under our feet. I know we have been watching numerous movies and attended several churches where we are told we are in a fight against evil. There is no such fight!

When we are born again, we are made sons of God with the life of God infused in us, giving us a new nature – we become spirit like God who is Spirit. However, there remains one component in us which still remains intact – our minds.

From the day we were born into this world, we were born with a human mind and we grew up ingesting and digesting information from our environment be it family, friends, school, you name it. We think and reason like humans do, based on our senses (what we see, hear, feel, smell and touch).

The weapons of Truth, Righteousness, Faith, Salvation, the Word, and Prayer enumerated in our opening verse are for what purpose? What is the ultimate target? To find out, let’s read what Paul says in the following verse;

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ…” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (KJV)

The above weapons are targeted towards the pulling down of strongholds. What is a stronghold? The word is from the Greek word ὀχύρωμα transliterated ochurōma which means an idea or anything on which one relies of the arguments and reasonings by which a disputant endeavors to fortify his opinion and defend it against his opponent.

No wonder Paul proceeds to talk of casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and arresting every thought to the obedience of Christ. This is so instructive and powerful!

Before we were born again, we have built very strong ideas about ourselves, others and even certain aspects of scripture. The red light zone is for some of us Christians who are trapped within the four walls of our churches; our church doctrines and traditions.

The principal battle is to bring all these strong ideas and our human knowledge, thoughts, imaginations which are opposed to the knowledge of God and making our thought-life to be subject to the Word. If not we will forever be trapped in our humanity as our human mind will always have the best of us to the detriment of the Word which will not find its perfect expression through us, limiting our impact and productivity in Jesus Christ and as sons of God.

The devil’s greatest technique is manipulating the truth, the aim of which is to manipulate our minds. Everything that is evil or good starts and ends in our minds before being manifested out in the open for everyone to see.

Until you suit your mind up with the Word, you are your greatest enemy.Click To Tweet

Our acts are the consequence of our thoughts and imaginations – you want to modulate and fix your actions, fix your mind – transform your mind. Until your mind is suited up with the Word, replacing our worldly thinking patterns and our hard ideas with what the Word says through consistent Bible study and most especially the application of the Word in our lives. Until then, you’ll be your greatest enemy, not the devil.

A Prayer From Me With You

Father thank you for your Life and for giving the right to be called your son. Thank you for the higher life in Christ Jesus. Holy Spirit as I engage with the Word daily, reveal unto me the deep things of the kingdom and teach me to act out Your Word in my everyday life situations. Teach to be productive in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Hi there! I am very passionate and value Wisdom and Understanding. Reconciling Christians to their true Life, identity, and purpose in Christ Jesus is what I love doing. In my "spare" time, I love listening to music and watching the TV series "Suits". Great show by the way! just saying...😉
