“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” 1 John 3:1 (KJV)
John expresses his astonishment at the Love of God. It is lawful to punish an offender or a criminal for a crime committed; that is just and right. However, to know that our Father commended His Love towards us while we were yet sinners is mind-blowing; It is out of this world; it is Heavenly.
The Gift of His Life
Our Father is the God of Love; He is Love. He is the very definition and embodiment of Love. While we deserved death owing to our nature and our incapability in meeting His standard for righteousness for His validation, He went further than any other in any realm to give us His very best.
What is this very best that He gave us? You might answer Jesus Christ and you won’t be wrong. However, do we understand what transpired with the revelation of Jesus? Our Father through His Son Jesus Christ gave us Himself: He made us like Him.
From flesh to Spirit
The day we were reborn (Born Again), we pass from being “flesh” to “spirit,” we have His nature, for our Father is a Spirit. Not only that, but He also gives us His Life (eternal life). We no longer have the corrupt human life which is short and full of troubles; the life which fades away like a candle in the wind (Job 14:1). As sons of God, we have Life full of happiness, joy, peace, and life that is everlasting. indeed, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” 1 Corinthians 15:55 (KJV). Thanks be to God forever!
The Gift of HIS Righteousness
It’s not all! He also gave us His Righteousness. In the Old Testament, people were required to earn their righteousness. To be righteous, one didn’t have to sin as every sin was credited to the person’s account. With this in play, none could be righteous for no one ever met God’s standard for righteousness. Reasoning why Paul says, “For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.” Hebrews 7:19 (KJV).
Jesus Christ Fulfills the law!
Jesus came therefore to fulfill the law (Matthew 5:17) and in doing so, He was vetted by God to be righteous and passed this righteousness to us who are His body. Besides His righteousness, He gave us the best Counselor, the Holy Spirit to counsel us on the path to follow and how to fulfill our divine destinies which our Father had preconceived for us.
The Gift of His Mind through His Word
He gave us His Word. Our Father does nothing without His Word. He is His Word and His Word is Him. by giving us His Word He gave us His intelligence. Oh boy, this is too much! Reason Paul says, “For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV). Human beings live by human intelligence, but we as sons of God ought to live by Heaven’s intelligence–the Word.
Kings and Lords (Joint-heirs)
To crown it all, our Father has through His Son Jesus Christ made us His heirs even joint-heirs with Christ Jesus over the earth; He has made us Lords over the earth. “...and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ…“ Romans 8:17 (NKJV). I don’t know about you but I can’t afford to be the victim again in this world no matter the circumstances. The earth is my inheritance and playing field.
Stop Trying to Blend In, Stand Out!
We the sons of God are most blessed and exalted, we are enthroned; we are kings! However, the world cannot know us for it didn’t know Him; It is futile to gain the world’s approval for they won’t because they can’t. Why? Because, “the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV). The world operates by the senses, they can’t discern us because we are spirit—our lifestyle is in direct contrast with that of the world. Quit trying to blend in, function by the Word, and be led by the Holy Spirit and reign.
