Theme Verse
“Fight a good fight for the faith and claim eternal life. God offered it to you when you clearly told about your faith, while so many people listened.” 1 Timothy 6:12 CEV |
Today’s theme verse is a pronouncement from Apostle Paul to his spiritual son Timothy who was taking the helm of operations of the church in Ephesus.
Timothy had made a bold public confession about his faith and allegiance to Jesus Christ as almost all believers do. However, Paul is calling on Timothy to go beyond mere confessions by making these confessions become real.
The Good Fight of Faith
The term “good” in this verse is the greek word kalos which means valuable or virtuous outwardly in contrast with the term agathos which means being of good constitution or nature (instinsic).
Paul is calling on Timothy to “fight” the good fight. What does Paul really mean by this? Let’s remember Jesus Christ has given us victory already in all things, so we’re not called to engage in any fight whatsoever but for one; the transformation of our minds – the process of replacing our human thoughts and ultimately our human life for God’s thoughts and life.
The good fight of faith, is bringing outward our new nature and that which our Father is deposited in us - Eternal Life or the God-Life manifested by His Word.Click To TweetLaying Hold on Eternal Life
The phrase “lay hold on” in our theme verse is the greek word epilambanomai which means to take possession of, attain, or attain to. Yes we’re born again; we’re sons of God, but our humanity (human thoughts and lifestyle) doesn’t permit us to take possession or attain or manifest God’s Life tabernacled in us.
The result of the “Good fight of Faith” is the full expression of God’s Life in and most especially through us outwardly to others and to very creature.
The Challenge
Let’s go beyond mere words and confessions about our undying love for Jesus Christ while we continuously demonstrate a life (human life) contrary to that which we are called to manifest.
Let’s make our confessions real and be the vent on earth of our Father’s Life, His manifold wisdom and character. This Is the purpose of our high calling. Nothing no, nothing less.
Practically, what would you do to make your confession real in your everyday life? Let’s Disqus, leave your reactions in the comment section below.
PRAYERFather thank you for the value you placed on me even when I didn’t deserve it. You gave me your very best and recreated me to be like you with your life in me. The Kingdom is being established on earth through me daily; Your Word is beaming and transforming my mind daily and am the very expression of your wisdom, and character. Amen. |
